
Katharina Keil – Director | Writer | Producer
Katharina Keil is a German-born Australian writer, director and producer based in Western Australia, with over thirty years’ experience in the international film and television industry. Her extensive background as a script supervisor and assistant director across Australia, Germany, South Africa and the UK informs her precise, performance-driven approach to directing.
Her directorial work is grounded in character, emotional connection and the humour found in human behaviour. Her short films Waves, Opa-Pappou and The Release have screened at festivals across Australia and internationally, earning awards, nominations and recognition for writing, directing and performance.
Katharina is currently developing a slate of original film and television projects, including romantic road movie Tracks of Love, romantic comedy short Unleashed and television comedy series Please Rescue Me. She also mentors emerging filmmakers, drawing on experience across more than 60 film and television productions.
Katharina is a member of the Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG), Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) and MEAA.
